it's no use buying them new toys

It's one of those ring tubes with the little ball inside that they can bat at and watch go round and round, but can never actually catch.

Usually they just ignore the fancy toys we get and go play in the old half-chewed cardboard box that once housed take-out Chinese. (It looks a LOT worse now than it does in this picture. This picture is 2 years old!)

I guess at least this toy got some use.

Warm spots

Funny how kitties will always find the place that's nice and warm. Apparently the cable box just gives off heat even when it's off.

... that doesn't seem like a good thing. But to the kitties, it is oh so good.

I think it makes her feel like a tiger.

This is one of the first things Manapua did when she got to my parents' house. I guess she wanted to properly stalk the other kitties by hiding out in the surrounding brush.

Tisha can jump

This is still cats in strange places, though I have to confess it is staged. I knew Tisha could jump fairly high, so I decided to clear out a couple of our bookshelves to see if we could lure him into them. Initially I was going to be patient and let him discover the newly cleared shelves on his own, but my own short attention span got the better of me and I tossed his favorite crinkly toy onto one of the shelves.


I experimented with putting the crinkly toy on different shelves, to test his ingenuity.

Twokitties investigate a new box

Today we bought a new printer/copier/scanner/fax, with which we are in love. It came in a cardboard box, of course, so we cut a little window out of it and put it down on the floor.

Tisha immediately went in to investigate.


Now Lyapa isn't particularly fond of boxes herself, but she and Tisha take cues from each other about what's interesting. As soon as Tisha started poking around in the box, Lyapa went over too.


But it looked like what she was more interested in was Tisha himself!

New house, new sink, old habits.

Kitties in cars.

Not really cats in strange places but I was sitting in the passenger seat and Devin jumped out to grab some things from the house. Both kitties stood up to wait for him to come back. Very cute.
